Garage Doors in Georgian Heights, OntarioWorkshop doorsthat earn their keep.

Plenty of garages in Georgian Heights are workshops first and parking second. Dust, sawdust and frequent openings are hard on rollers and photo-eyes, so we fit sealed bearings, protect the sensors, and set the opener for the extra cycles, so the door keeps pace with whatever you are building inside. This page also covers Bluewater Beach, Deanlea Beach, Georgina Beach and Gibson.

Georgian Heights

Start with a visit to your garage in Georgian Heights.

Our technicians in Georgian Heights carry the winding bars, clamps, stands and gauges the work needs and use them every time, on every door. Spring sizes are measured, not guessed; cable lengths are matched to the drums; opener force is set with the door balanced. The result is a door that behaves.

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 47%Homes of every age

About 47% of homes in Tiny were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

A mixed-age neighbourhood is where retrofits are most common: safety cables added to extension springs, a torsion conversion on an older door, insulated panels replacing a hollow door, or a quieter belt opener under a newly finished room above the garage. Each is a routine job for us.

  • 97%Mostly houses

Single-detached houses make up about 97% of homes in Tiny (2021 Census).

Where homes are detached, the garage is frequently a workshop or storage room as well as parking, and the door may be opened dozens of times on a Saturday. Sealed-bearing rollers, protected sensors and a regular tune-up keep a hard-working door running smoothly.

Do you adjust the springs during a tune-up?

Springs are inspected and lubricated during a tune-up, and the balance test tells us whether they are carrying the door's weight properly. Changing their tension is a separate, deliberate job: the door is clamped to the track, winding bars are used on a torsion spring, and the technician works from a stable position. If the balance check shows the springs need adjustment or replacement, you receive that as its own recommendation with its own quote.

My door is insulated. Does the new section need the same insulation?

It should. Insulated sections come in different thicknesses and core types, and the replacement needs to match yours so the joints line up, the hinges sit at the right depth and the weight stays consistent with the springs. Mixing an insulated section into an uninsulated door, or the reverse, generally means a step at the joint and a change in balance. The technician reads the thickness and core type from the door before ordering.

Does a heavy insulated door need heavier track?

Usually the standard two-inch track handles a residential insulated door well, provided the gauge matches what the door maker specified and the brackets and hangers are properly fixed. Very heavy or oversized doors, and some carriage-style wood doors, are set up on three-inch track or on heavier-gauge two-inch. If a heavier door was hung on the light track from an earlier door, flexing and spreading follow, and the technician will say so.

What should I do while waiting for the visit?

Leave the door in the position it is in and stop using the opener. Move the car and anything else you need out of the garage by another door if you can, and clear the floor near the door so the technician has room to work. If a cable jumped because the door closed on something, leave the object where it was; it helps explain what happened.

What other parts are often replaced with the spring?

The shaft is free during a spring change, which makes it the natural time to renew the centre bearing and end bearings if they grind or wobble. Lift cables that show fraying or rust at the bottom brackets are replaced so the new spring pulls on sound steel, and cracked or worn drums are swapped. On older doors, a corroded centre bracket or loose lag bolts may also be addressed. Each item is shown and explained before it is added.
